For trade unions
Reach every member, wherever they work.
Union membership is spread across sites, shifts and counties. PollGuard lets you run branch and national elections without gathering everyone in one hall on one day.
How a union election runs
From branch nominations to a national result.
Confirm the membership
Verify members against your register with an ID check and a face match, reviewed by your officials. Members in good standing become eligible; the rest are flagged with a reason on the record.
Nominate and vet at branch level
Collect nominations, apply your eligibility rules — membership duration, standing, clearance — and record every vetting decision with who made it.
Open the ballot across sites
Members vote from their own phone or at a supervised branch device, across whatever window you set. SMS notifications and passcodes reach members on basic handsets.
Declare with observers watching
Accredited observers get their own view of the live results wall. Every member holds a receipt they can check independently.
What matters for unions
Branch hierarchies
Up to seven levels of structure with regional officials and branch-scoped permissions, so branch secretaries administer their own members and nothing more.
SMS reach
Bulk notifications, one-time passcodes and delivery tracking, so you can show that members were actually notified.
Observers on the record
Accredit rival slates, federation representatives or independent observers, each with their own credentials and their own filed reports.
Disputes handled in the system
Challenges are filed against the election, assigned and resolved with a record — instead of being argued in a corridor.
Union questions
Our members are suspicious of electronic voting. Why would they trust this?
Because they do not have to take our word for it. Every voter gets a receipt and can independently confirm their own ballot was recorded, and you can accredit observers from opposing factions to watch the same live results. Please also read our security page — we are explicit about what our system does and does not prove, which is the honest basis for that trust.
Can we still hold voting at the workplace?
Yes. Supervised voting at a branch or workplace device is a normal way to run this, and is often the practical answer for members without their own smartphone.
What if a member disputes their eligibility on polling day?
Eligibility is determined before the poll from your register and verification status, and the reason for any exclusion is recorded. Disputes can be filed and resolved on the record rather than at the ballot table.
Does this comply with the Labour Relations Act?
Your election must be run under your own constitution and the applicable law, and you remain responsible for that. What we provide is the platform and a complete evidence trail. Involve your legal advisers early, and tell us any constitutional requirement that affects how the ballot must work.
