The person and

The member holds their identity document beside their face and takes a selfie. Before the photo is taken, the software looks for both faces — the live one and the one printed on the card — and checks they look alike, frame after frame.

What the software does

It runs while the camera is open, so the member gets feedback before anything is submitted.

    Find both faces

    The detector finds the live face and the outline of the card, then the smaller face printed on the card.

    Compare them

    Both faces are turned into face templates with the same ArcFace model used for the face match, and compared.

    Wait for a steady run

    Only when the two faces have matched for 12 frames in a row is the selfie taken. A single lucky frame is not enough.

    The captured selfie is sent to an AI review service for a second opinion; it can ask the member to retake it.

Why it is there

The same person,
at the same moment.

A document photo and a separate selfie could be taken at different times by different people. Holding the document in the selfie ties the two together at the moment of capture. The formal comparison of the selfie against the document photo is then made by the face match.

A person approves every member.
No check on this page verifies anyone by itself. The results go to a reviewer for the organisation, who approves or rejects — and that decision, with their name and any note they add, is written to the record. Where a member needs help at a station, a returning officer assists and is named too.

Decide the face match
It is a capture step. The comparison that counts towards the verification is the face match, made afterwards on the server.
Verify the document
The document checks are separate. This step only uses the photo printed on it.
Stay away from outside services
The captured selfie is sent to an AI review service for a second opinion.

We publish no accuracy or match rate for this step.
